Harness boots were originally designed to protect the motorcycle rider from the heat of the exhaust pipes and the engine block. Technology and exhaust shielding has taken care of a lot of these problems, but the Harness style motorcycle boot remain a popular boot style, if not a staple for any biker's wardrobe. The boot's uppers are made from the best full-grain leather available, and are unlined. The nice thing about these boots is that they are basically unadorned. Save for an unobtrusive embossed Harley-Davidson® Bar & Shield® logo on the outside facing heel, and a debossed Harley-Davidson® -03- Motorcycles logo on the front of the shaft, the boots are simplistically functional, without other embellishments or other hardware except for the distinctive Harness O'Ring. The boots are pulled on the old-fashioned way. With a rubber outsole, these boots are made for comfort, whether riding, walking, or standing. The street side-sole and heel have a brightly textured, crosshatched Harley® orange center-fill, along with a Bar & Shield® insert on the instep. The boot's sole, insole and upper are bound using resoleable Goodyear® Welt construction processes, the most labor intensive and durable construction method available.
